So honored to be collaborating with my friend Laura in the launching of her new fair trade boutique! Here's their mission:
"Flourish Art & Gifts exists to empower people around the globe through fair trade and fundraising. It is our pleasure to purchase and sell goods that are made by skilled and talented artisans who earn a fair wage and are not forced to work. Many of our products are made by women and girls rescued from sex trafficking."
It is so beautiful knowing that fair trade goes beyond fair wages. What I learned from Laura is that most of the artisans are so passionate about passing on values and methods of empowerment, that they invest their own revenue into community development projects in their own neighborhoods, cities or villages. I love this. My degree is in Community Development and it's just so exciting to me that this is happening on a grassroots level.
