Hey, welcome! Thanks so much for your interest in my art. Whether you're here to consider a wedding photographer, someone to capture your baby's first breaths, need to start a modeling portfolio, or simply want to learn from the stories of people who are from different cultures and backgrounds than you, you deserve to know a bit about the artist behind the lens.
Photography is a big part of my life journey. In 2005 I had the opportunity to experience cross-cultural travel, and my desire to learn and document people's stories is what inspired my interest in photography. My camera is merely a means for me to get to know people and share with the world the beauty that is intrinsically present within them. Every human being has equal worth, and it is my desire and responsibility as an artist to portray this.
Whatever shoot you book, you can expect to just let loose and have fun. I'm not a fan of posing people, because it's less likely that your unique personality will shine through the photo. I am not a studio photographer - I think that environment has a huge impact on people's ability to disarm in front of a camera. You aren't joining me on a photo shoot, I'm joining you on your family outing, your date, your celebration, ceremony, hospital visit, or just your typical day at home.
In all my work I strive to maintain a documentary approach. The world has enough distorted ideas about love, beauty, community and identity. I believe that when we dare to disarm, and reveal the organic, we will not only experience healing, we will invite others into a healing journey.
Many of my personal projects focus on breaking down barriers of race, class, gender, and any stereotypes or assumptions that are placed upon humans. My photography is a big part of my life journey as a whole, because through coming in contact with people's stories with my lens, my worldview has been challenged, enlightened, inspired and re-shaped. I can only hope that you will experience a bit of this richness through entering into these photographic stories.
